Obesity definition: What is obesity?
An easy method is to measure around the waist. If the waist is more than 94cm in man or more than 80cm in woman, this person has a problem about obesity-related health problem.
The most common method which is currently used is to measure body mass index (BMI)

BMI= Weight / (Height ^2) = Kilograms / (meters ^2)= lb*703/in^2
Effects of obesity
Obesity increases the probability to have diseases: type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, gallbladder and liver disease, dyslipidemia ( high total cholesterol or high levels of triglycerides), cardiovascular diseases, obstructive and asthma,coronary heart disease, respiratory problems
These diseases are very dangerous and reduce life
expectancy.

You may not do the thing you want. You cannot take part in
any activities such as running , dance… You can not sociable with the public so
you will avoid everyone. You may encounter discrimination, stereotype, losing
attraction. It leads to some related issues: depression, disability, physical
discomfort, social isolation
Cause of obesity:
Obesity
is caused by endocrine disorders, or psychiatric illness, decreased in ambient
temperature, decreased rates of smoking, hypothyroidism, Cushing's syndrome,
growth hormone deficiency and the eating disorders. Some medications may cause
weight gain or changes in body composition; these include insulin,
sulfonylureas, thiazolidinediones…Other factors are age ( when you are more
old, you do not need more calorie), gender ( Men use more calorie than women, so
women is usually more overweight than
men), physical activities(more activities use more calorie), feeling( eating to
forget other emotion such as tired, anger,…), unhealthy eating habits( eat more meat, do
not eat vegetables, eat fastfood, not eat breakfast, eat in night), lack of
sleep( create hoocmon which stimulus eating habit), technology’s developing (it
makes human more lazy: computer, TV, car, telephone, robot…)
Obesity treatment: How to lose weight?
The
best way to lose way is dieting and physical exercise because it does not have the side effects. However, it needs the patience and try the
best.
Dieting: have a healthy diet, more fruits, vegetables
and whole grains and reducing portion sizes, meats, fat. Limited uses fast
food.
Physical
training: increase levels, let’s train with the daily work you do. Walking to
shopping or walking to the bus station. Walking around the house. Do chore work
by hand: washing clothes, sweeping, cleaning house, cutting the grass… walking
instead of using elevators, walking the dog... The initial goal is loss 5 to 10
percent of your total weight.
A
second way is using medications: orlistat (Xenical), is usually used widely and use for long term, it loses an average of
2.9 kg (6.4 lb) at 1 to 4 years but it is said that it has some negative
effects on the kidneys. There are two other medications. Lorcaserin (Belviq)
results in an average 3.1 kg weight loss (3% of body mass) greater than placebo
over a year. A combination of phentermine and topiramate (Qsymia) is also some
effective.
Surgery
should be a final method which uses for dangerously obese because it is
expensive and have some risk of
complications. Surgery may be used to reduce stomach volume or bowel length,
leading to earlier full and reduced ability to absorb nutrients from food,. One
study found a weight loss of between 14% and 25% (depending on the type of
procedure performed) at 10 years, and a 29% reduction in all cause mortality
when compared to standard weight loss measures.

habits: use balance diet: reduce consume energy-dense foods ( fat, sugar, high
cholesterol…), increase using dietary fiber (vegetable, fruit, whole grains…).

exercise: In your daily life and your freetime. Walking, play sport,
travelling, do chore work… are good ideas
Check
your health periodically: To know your health and cure it when it began to
risk. It’ is easy to cure before become bigger problems
